A is a metal device (mainly titanium) that replaces the roots of the lost natural tooth. The implant is similar in shape to a post or screw. It is placed into the underlying jaw bone by special surgical drills. This implant which is medically pure and biologically compatible will merge with the bone, by a process called osseointegration, with in a period of atleast 3 months. What makes the implant so strong is that the bone actually grows around it and holds it in the place. Artificial teeth are attached to this implant immediately or minimum 3 months after the placement of implant. Thus dental implant replaces the crown and roots of the lost teeth. | ||
